Biography

James Matour is Chair of the firm's Bankruptcy group. He concentrates his practice in corporate reorganization, bankruptcy, and commercial workouts, and has more than 30 years of experience representing debtors, creditors, and other parties in bankruptcy cases. He also has extensive experience handling corporate transactions and business litigation. Jim is a member of the firm’s Board of Directors and is listed in both Chambers USA: America’s Leading Lawyers for Business and Best Lawyers in America.  

Jim is a founding Director of the Consumer Bankruptcy Assistance Project, a contributing editor of The Bankruptcy Strategist, and a member of the Eastern District of Pennsylvania Bankruptcy Conference, the American Bankruptcy Institute, and the Turnaround Management Association. A 1980 cum laude graduate of Widener University School of Law, he served on Law Review and was a member of the Moot Court Honor Society. In 1976, he received his BA in Psychology from LaSalle University. 

Jim is a frequent lecturer at attorney and judicial conferences on bankruptcy and distressed business topics. He also teaches a course on "Turnarounds and Bankruptcy" as part of the Lehigh University MBA program.
