Laterals
It is not unusual for an attorney to arrive here at Hangley Aronchick Segal Pudlin & Schiller after starting his or her legal career someplace else. We are proud of our tradition of hiring highly qualified lateral applicants.
Whether you find yourself looking for a position at our firm because you are moving into private practice from the public sector, relocating to our area, or just tired of the firm where you are, we have a lot to offer.
Lots of our lawyers have spent time working in the public sector. In addition, a majority of our lawyers clerked on district or circuit courts, and one clerked on the United States Supreme Court. Our lawyers have also served the community. We have on our roster a past Chancellor of the Philadelphia Bar Association; current and former law school professors; fellows of the American College of Trial Lawyers, American College of Bankruptcy Lawyers, and American College of Real Estate Lawyers; members of the American Law Institute and American Bankruptcy Institute; and leaders of inns of court and the American Bar Association Section of Litigation.
Many of our attorneys are veterans of larger law firms who got tired of the downsides of big firms: bureaucracy, lack of meaningful work experience, and lack of respect for life outside of work.
We think Hangley Aronchick offers a very attractive combination—a sophisticated and wonderfully varied practice in a small firm culture. In publications ranging from Chambers USA: America’s Leading Lawyers for Business to The Best Lawyers in America to Philadelphia Magazine, our business, litigation, bankruptcy, environmental, and real estate lawyers are singled out as the best in the profession. Knowing the value of peer approval, we take pride in the fact that major law firms throughout the country regularly engage us when (as happens more and more frequently these days) they are named as defendants in high-risk, high-profile cases. We even represented the Pennsylvania Bar Association (in effect, the entire lawyer population of our state) when its judicial candidate evaluation process was attacked in the courts.
To have the kind of practice we have, and to provide these sorts of opportunities, Hangley Aronchick has to attract the very best candidates. Take a look at our attorney profiles, and you’ll agree that we’ve been able to do that.
We welcome unsolicited résumés submitted directly by candidates. We will respond promptly to any résumés submitted.
It would be our pleasure to consider your application. We prefer that you submit your application electronically here. If you have any questions about our firm or the hiring process, please feel free to contact the Shareholder Chair of our Hiring Committee, Dan Segal, or the Associate Co-Chair, Bonnie Hoffman. You are also welcome to contact any of our other associates and ask them what they do, how they like it here, and whether they think this might be the place for you.
Hangley Aronchick Segal Pudlin & Schiller is an equal opportunity employer, values diversity, and strongly encourages minority candidates to apply.
