Biography
Michael Carlson’s diverse experiences at big international and mid-size law firms provide him with a broad understanding of the complex corporate litigation matters he handles in state and federal courts. These experiences help him meet his clients’ objectives in a mindful and deliberate way. His proactive approach to client matters and his extensive litigation training allow him to make the legal process seamless for his clients.
A litigator, Michael represents individuals and corporate clients, including many of the world’s largest insurers, in sophisticated coverage, bad faith, and reinsurance disputes. He also advises on and litigates for clients in cases involving business contract disputes, negotiable instruments, bank litigation, and creditors’ rights.
Michael’s commitment to helping others and his dedication to the community is evident in his pro bono efforts, which include, among others, successfully representing a Liberian family seeking political asylum in the United States and regularly serving as a poll monitor for a government watchdog election protection program.
Prior to joining Hangley Aronchick, Michael was an associate at DLA Piper, LLP.
He is a 2002 graduate, cum laude, of Temple University School of Law, where he was a member of the Temple Law Review. He received a BA in 1993 from Pennsylvania State University. Prior to becoming an associate, Michael was a law clerk for now-Chief Justice Ronald Castille of the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania. Before entering law school, Michael taught high school social studies for one year and then served for four years as a legislative aide to a United States senator.
