Biography

Gregory B. David, a litigator, graduated magna cum laude from the University of Pennsylvania Law School in 2004. Greg was a senior editor of the University of Pennsylvania Law Review. He received his M.A. in Philosophy from the University of Pennsylvania and his B.A. with high distinction from the University of Virginia in 2000. From 2004-2005, Greg served as a law clerk to the Honorable Anthony J. Scirica, Chief Judge of the United States Third Circuit Court of Appeals.  Greg's practice focuses on complex commercial litigation and appellate litigation, including commercial contracts, business torts, professional malpractice, and governmental litigation.

Representative Cases

  • Currently represents the former directors and managers of a private equity technology investment fund that invested in cutting-edge internet technologies at the height of the internet boom in several lawsuits alleging fraud and mismanagement.  The lawsuits, which are pending in the United States and abroad, seek more than $30 million in alleged damages.  Works with and coordinates parties and counsel located in Boston, New York, Pennsylvania, Atlanta, the Cayman Islands, London, Paris, Senegal, and Singapore.
  • Commonwealth of Pennsylvania v. Chester Upland School District, et al., No. 496 M.D. 2005, slip op. (Pa. Commw. October 16, 2006).  Successful representation of the Department of Education which sought to place into receivership a school district on the grounds that the governing body of the district had mismanaged the financial affairs of the district, had paid insufficient attention to the educational needs of the children and had failed to fulfill various statutory mandates.
  • Successful defense of attorneys accused of abuse of legal process under the Dragonetti Act. Slack v. Young,  936 A.2d 41 (Pa. 2007)
  • Successfully obtained the return of a multi-million dollar charitable donation after the recipient organization violated the terms of the gift.

Pro Bono

After successfully defending against summary judgment, represented plaintiff in three-day trial of a § 1983 civil rights action concerning allegations of excessive force.
