John S. Summers Elected Secretary of the Philadelphia Bar Foundation
Philadelphia, PA – January 11, 2005 – John S. Summers, a Shareholder in the litigation department of the law firm of Hangley Aronchick Segal & Pudlin, was recently elected to serve as Secretary of the Philadelphia Bar Foundation.
Mr. Summers has served as a Trustee on the Bar Foundation’s Board for six years and is the immediate past Chair of the Grants Committee. During his tenure as Chair of the Grants Committee, a special grant was awarded to address the legal needs of immigrants in 2003 and in 2004 a special grant was awarded to Community Legal Services (CLS) to address the pressing problem of predatory lending.
Mr. Summers is a civil and white collar criminal defense litigator. In addition to his involvement with the Bar Foundation, he has served as a Member and Chair of a hearing panel of the Disciplinary Board of the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania. He is also a member of the Board and the Executive Committee of The Reinvestment Fund. Mr. Summers is currently Lecturer-in-Law at the University of Pennsylvania Law School, where he teaches “Appellate Advocacy.”
