Hangley Aronchick Segal Pudlin & Schiller Shareholder Michele Hangley has been honored by Benchmark Litigation as one of the nation’s Top 250 Women in Litigation. Hangley was recognized for her extensive accomplishments in commercial litigation, including her experience in intellectual property disputes, breach of contract claims, business torts, and legal malpractice defense, and her work representing clients in a variety of industry sectors in multi-million-dollar disputes. This is the sixth consecutive year that she has been named to this list.
Hangley represents businesses in commercial disputes and defends attorneys accused of legal malpractice or professional misconduct. She also litigates cases in a number of other areas; most recently, she successfully represented the Governor of Pennsylvania and members of his administration in the Pennsylvania Congressional Redistricting Litigation. Hangley is a Hearing Committee Member of the Disciplinary Board of the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania and a judge pro tempore for the Commerce Program of the Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas. She has held a number of leadership roles with the Section of Litigation of the American Bar Association, including, most recently, as the Section’s Communications Co-Chair and a member of its Federal Practice Task Force. She has also co-chaired the Philadelphia program of a Section-run judicial internship program for diverse and underprivileged law students and co-chaired the Section’s Ethics and Professionalism Committee. Hangley is also a Board Member of Nationalities Service Center, an organization devoted to helping immigrants and refugees in the Philadelphia region participate fully in American society.
Hangley is a magna cum laude graduate of the University of Pennsylvania Law School. Before entering private practice, she served as a law clerk for the Honorable Phyllis A. Kravitch of the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit.
