Hangley Aronchick Segal Pudlin & Schiller proudly announces that shareholder John S. Stapleton recently was honored by two organizations: the Philadelphia Business Journal and the Support Center for Child Advocates.
The Philadelphia Business Journal named John to its 2017 “40 Under 40.” This award recognizes individuals under the age of 40 who are proven performers and current and future leaders in their respective industries and communities. This year, the Philadelphia Business Journal received nearly 400 nominations – an all-time record – for this prestigious award.
Additionally, in April, the Support Center for Child Advocates honored John as a Distinguished Advocate, in recognition of his eleven years of pro bono work on behalf of abused and neglected children.
A business litigator, John frequently handles high-profile and high-stakes trials and appeals. His client base and substantive experiences are diverse and deep. He regularly litigates matters on behalf of financial institutions, real estate companies, retailers, government agencies, and other businesses and individuals, concerning intellectual property rights, taxes, restrictive covenants, licensing and other business contracts, partnership disputes, fraud, real estate, RICO, ERISA, government regulations, class actions, and business torts.
John often presents CLEs on litigation tactics and substantive legal issues, and he is a published author. Most recently, John co-authored five chapters in LexisNexis Practice Guide: Pennsylvania Civil Pre-Trial Practice (2017) (edited by the Honorable Daniel J. Anders and Bobby Ochoa, III) concerning all matters of written discovery, depositions, and motions for summary judgment in Pennsylvania.
In addition to these latest recognitions, John previously was named a “Lawyer on the Fast Track” by The Legal Intelligencer, and he has been recognized as a Rising Star by Pennsylvania Super Lawyers magazine every year since 2012.
Prior to joining Hangley Aronchick Segal Pudlin & Schiller, John practiced in the litigation department of Cravath, Swaine & Moore LLP in New York.
