Joe Crawford brings in-depth experience in representation of law firms

Hangley Aronchick Segal Pudlin & Schiller announced today the addition of Joseph C. Crawford as a shareholder, resident in the firm’s Philadelphia office. Crawford brings decades of trial experience to the firm.

He has successfully represented major law firms and their lawyers in cases involving legal claims for malpractice, disqualifying conflicts of interest, and ethical violations.

“I have known Joe personally since the beginning of my legal career, and he is one of the top trial attorneys in Philadelphia,” said Ron Schiller, firm Chair. “He understands the legal needs of lawyers and has been successful in representing some of the biggest firms in Philadelphia.”

“I am delighted to join Hangley Aronchick because the firm offers a unique culture of legal excellence and collegiality which draws both sophisticated clients and lawyers,” said Crawford. “While I know well and have great respect for the founding and named Shareholders of the firm, what really excites me are the younger litigation shareholders, who are the best of the best. They will ensure that the firm’s future will be every bit as bright as its first 25 years.”

In addition to his malpractice experience, Crawford has a broad civil litigation practice.  He has tried cases in many areas of the law, including commercial disputes, defamation, product liability, breach of contract, fraud, securities, insurance, and cases arising out of mergers and acquisitions, as well as death penalty litigation and other pro bono matters.

“His reputation, as well as the depth of his practice, and his deep industry knowledge are elements that drew us to Joe and will ensure that the firm continues to be a source of outstanding legal counsel to our clients. We are committed to growing via excellence, both by training our own attorneys and attracting laterals who share our vision,” said Mark Aronchick, a founder of the firm.

Crawford is a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers.  He is listed in The Best Lawyers in America in Commercial Litigation and First Amendment Law and in Chambers USA: America’s Leading Lawyers for Business in Commercial Litigation. He has served on the Philadelphia Bar Association’s Board of Governors and as Deputy City Solicitor for the City of Philadelphia.  Prior to joining Hangley Aronchick, Crawford was a partner at Pepper Hamilton LLP; Wolf, Block, Schorr and Solis-Cohen LLP; and Schnader, Harrison, Segal & Lewis LLP.

The addition comes at an important time for the firm as it prepares to celebrate its 25th anniversary.  Founded on October 31, 1994, with 16 lawyers and 25 total employees, the firm has grown to 46 attorneys and nearly 100 total employees in four offices.  Crawford embodies the high caliber attorney the firm attracts, which includes a former Philadelphia city solicitor, former leaders of the Philadelphia and Montgomery County Bar Associations, and Fellows of the American College of Trial Lawyers, the American College of Bankruptcy, the American College of Real Estate Lawyers, and the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers.
