Environmental law shareholders Steve Miano and Pete Keays are assisting the Chesapeake Legal Alliance in litigation over a salvage yard’s alleged contamination of local waterways in York County, Pa. The CLA and our environmental team are representing the Lower Susquehanna Riverkeeper Association. CLA filed a citizen suit under the Clean Water Act and the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act. Citizen suits provisions in the Clean Water Act and other environmental legislation allow citizens or nonprofit organizations to bring an action in lieu of a government agency.
Steve and Pete are working with the CLA to require the salvage yare to obtain a required permit and clean up the waterways that have been polluted.
