Hangley Aronchick is proud to announce that shareholder Jason Levine has been named to the inaugural list of “New Jersey Trailblazers” by the New Jersey Law Journal. The list honors lawyers who are innovators and thought leaders, and those who are moving the practice of law forward. Levine and other honorees were recognized in a special section in the publication.
A litigator who practices in the Philadelphia and Cherry Hill offices, Levine represents financial institutions, real estate companies, and professionals and entrepreneurs in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and across the country. He currently is lead counsel for the firm in representing a large telecommunications company in litigation in Mercer County defending against claimed violations of New Jersey’s False Claims Act. Additionally, he recently led the successful representation of a retailer against its former shareholders for breach of contract and intellectual property claims, and he regularly counsels companies and their stakeholders on internal corporate disputes.
Levine also maintains a robust pro bono practice. In 2018, he was part of the Hangley Aronchick team that won the rare relief of a writ of habeas corpus for a Camden man serving a life sentence since 2000. United States District Judge Freda L. Wolfson specifically praised Jason and the team for their “able and vigorous advocacy” and for “play[ing] an integral part in ensuring that justice is fairly meted based on the merits of the arguments rather than the resources of the litigants.” In another case, Jason co-led the team that secured two favorable settlements for a Pennsylvania inmate who repeatedly was denied proper medical care.
Outside his legal practice, Levine is committed to his South Jersey community. He is a regional Board and Executive Committee member of the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) and chairs an ad hoc committee focused on expanding the ADL’s educational programming and law enforcement training throughout South Jersey. He also is a current member of Leadership, Inc., a nonprofit organization that mobilizes private sector talent to serve the community.
Levine graduated magna cum laude from the University of Pennsylvania Law School, where he served as Comments Editor for the University of Pennsylvania Law Review and was elected to the Order of the Coif. Prior to joining the firm, he worked in the litigation and white collar practice groups of Covington & Burling LLP in Washington, DC, and served as a law clerk for the Honorable Anthony J. Scirica of the US Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit.
