Shareholder Rebecca Levin Nayak was profiled by the Philadelphia Business Journal for its annual Business of Pride feature, which recognizes the region’s top LGBTQ+ leaders and allies.

Becca, a member of the firm’s Family Law practice, regularly counsels clients pursuing adoption or assisted reproduction, helping them navigate a complex legal landscape that hasn’t always recognized queer families. She also serves as co-chair of the Pennsylvania Bar Association Family Law Section’s Parentage Committee and is the immediate past-chair of the Philadelphia Bar Association’s Family Law Section.

Earlier this year, Becca testified before a committee of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives in support of the commonwealth’s version of the Uniform Parentage Act, landmark legislation which would standardize parentage laws across states and remove barriers for LGBTQ+ individuals seeking to start families.

Becca told the Business Journal that, through her advocacy, she hopes to “educate our legislature to really see that this is something that affects all types of families.”

“Based on national politics, there’s more reason to make sure that parental rights are affirmed as much as they can be, with increasing hostility in other states and the federal government,” she said. “Having all the protections that you can have is really important.”
