Environmental chair Steve Miano will be a panelist discussing “Brownfields 101” at the Pennsylvania Brownfields Conference on March 23, 2026. This session will introduce participants to the basics of Pennsylvania’s brownfields program, covering the basics of Acts 2, 3 and 4, the legal protections provided, federal counterparts, key process components and transaction risk management. Panelists from both the private practice and DEP will explore the intricacies of deal-making and best practices for managing a long-term stewardship of redevelopment projects, including environmental covenants. They will also highlight some of the requirements for attaining each of the Act 2 remediation standards (vapor intrusion, risk assessment, background basics, ecological evaluations, etc.) PFAS and emerging contaminants, and considerations for developing unique properties into successful brownfields redevelopment sites.
