Hangley Aronchick Segal Pudlin & Schiller Shareholder Steven T. Miano recently spoke at the United Kingdom Environmental Law Association’s Annual Conference, in Liverpool, England. The Flooding Plenary Session included discussions on the role of environmental agencies, flooding liability, and flood insurance, as well as Miano’s presentation on US perspectives on Water Law.
Miano, who chairs Hangley Aronchick’s Environmental practice, currently serves as Chair of the American Bar Association Section of Environment, Energy, and Resources, the premier forum for lawyers practicing environmental, natural resources and energy law.
A member of the firm’s Board of Directors, Miano has practiced environmental law for more than 25 years. His practice includes many facets of environmental law and litigation, including federal and state cases involving the Clean Water Act, Clean Air Act, Hazardous Waste laws, Superfund, brownfields redevelopment, and energy development. His clients include industrial corporations, commercial entities, and municipalities. He has been recognized as a leader in environmental law by Chambers USA: America’s Leading Lawyers for Business (Band 1); Who’s Who of Business Lawyers; Pennsylvania Super Lawyers magazine; and Best Lawyers in America.
Before entering private practice, Miano was an Assistant Regional Counsel for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, Region III. He is an adjunct professor at Rutgers University Law School – Camden, where he teaches courses on environmental law. He is a frequent lecturer and has written about environmental legal issues for a variety of publications. He has also served as a course planner for several state and national environmental law programs. Recently, Miano co-authored a chapter on TMDLs for Third Edition of The Clean Water Act Handbook.
Miano earned his bachelor of science in Environmental Studies from George Washington University in 1982, and his law degree from the University of New Hampshire School of Law in 1985.Share This
