As 2025 draws to a close, we reflect on a remarkable year defined by dedicated partnerships and meaningful results. Across our practice groups, Hangley Aronchick attorneys have navigated complex challenges, advanced innovative solutions and built on the deep, personal relationships that define our firm. Each client matter—whether in litigation, tax and estate planning, environmental law, or family law—has reinforced our founding vision to provide the highest level of professional service with the personal attention our clients deserve.

As we look ahead to 2026, we remain steadfast in our commitment to excellence, innovation and partnership, ensuring that our clients receive not only comprehensive legal counsel but also the thoughtful guidance and enduring relationships that have been the foundation of our success for over thirty years.

Litigation

“Hangley Aronchick represented a majority of the state’s 17 casinos as amici in an appeal to the Pennsylvania Supreme Court over the legality of skilled gaming machines. Unfortunately, the proliferation of these unregulated devices, commonly found in bars, restaurants and convenience stores across the Commonwealth, has led to a rise in violent crime, while also diverting much needed revenue away from local governments, which directly benefit from the taxes and fees that our clients pay. As we await clarity from the high court in 2026, this litigation is a reminder of the important role litigation advocacy plays in shaping important matters of public policy in Pennsylvania.”

Tax & Estate Planning

“With the federal gift and estate tax exemption finally made permanent through legislation passed in 2025 via the “Beautiful Big Bill,” clients now are able to do estate planning with much greater certainty. Therefore, while I did quite a bit of estate planning work in 2025 and it has been a growing part of my practice over the past few years, I see 2026 as a year in which such work becomes an even greater part of my practice. In addition, with my client base aging, which is true of the general population, I sadly have seen an increase in the number of clients who are dying, and that has led to an increase in the amount of estate administration work that I do. However, tax planning work outside of estate planning, such as in business and real estate transactions, also continues to be an important part of my practice.”

Environmental Law

“In 2025, I spent time helping to guide clients through the significant environmental regulatory shifts initiated by the current federal administration and the attendant impacts on state environmental regulatory programs. I see significant shifts in both federal and state activity arising from agency staffing shortages and new regulatory priorities. These changes have created complexities and delays in both environmental permitting and enforcement matters, requiring careful navigation. Despite these challenges, I am particularly proud of the progress we made in 2025 to successfully resolve several long-standing matters for our clients. As we move into 2026, I will continue helping clients resolve complex issues and adapt to evolving regulatory demands in order to achieve their environmental and business objectives.”

Family Law

“In 2025, we celebrated a landmark ruling by the Pennsylvania Supreme Court, which adopted the doctrine of ‘intent-based parentage’ as the uniform legal standard for establishing parentage for people who do not share a biological tie with their children. The first-of-its-kind ruling marked a major victory for LGBTQ+ families who conceive through assisted reproductive technology. I was honored to represent the Pennsylvania Chapter of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers in friend-of-the-court filings, advocating for the rights and protection of all children and their parents across the Commonwealth. My colleagues and I will continue this crucial fight in 2026 by pushing for the passage of the Uniform Parentage Act, which would codify a consistent framework for determining legal parentage across the Commonwealth.
