At Hangley Aronchick, our strength has always come from our people — the attorneys who help us provide excellent counsel while building the strong client relationships that define our firm. That’s why we’re excited to spotlight our team members through our “Get to Know an Attorney” campaign. In the latest installment, get to know Erin Gallagher, an associate in the Insurance Coverage and Litigation practices.
Erin Gallagher advises insurers on policy language, exclusions and obligations under business and personal insurance policies. She reviews and provides coverage opinions on coverage obligations under commercial general liability, medical professional liability, and directors and officers liability policies. Erin was recently listed as one of Pennsylvania Super Lawyers’ 2026 “Rising Stars” for Insurance Coverage.
If you had to explain your practice area to a 10-year-old, how would you do it?
Assuming they’re a 10-year-old with a working understanding of insurance, I would tell them that when an insured has a loss or gets sued, we advise the insurance company on whether the policy provides coverage. And if the insured disagrees with the insurance company’s position, we represent the insurance company in court.
What’s a common misconception people have about your area of law?
I think people would assume that “insurance law” could be boring, but we see a wide variety of cases and fact patterns and are constantly looking at different legal questions, so it stays interesting.
You just won an all-expenses-paid vacation anywhere in the world you choose. Where are you headed?
Patagonia. I love to travel, and it’s been on my list for a while. With all expenses paid, I’d splurge for a wild penguin tour.
