Hangley Aronchick shareholder John Summers was profiled by The Legal Intelligencer as a finalist for the publication’s 2024 Power Players award. The recognition, part of the annual Pennsylvania Legal Awards, honors attorneys across Pennsylvania and Delaware who made a significant impact on public policy, legislation or jurisprudence in 2023 through advocacy on behalf of clients.

In the piece, John credited his success to a strong work ethic and the deep client relationships that set Hangley Aronchick apart from its peers.

“My clients continue to count on me—and the firm—because we provide thoughtful, meticulous work products and sensible legal advice,” John said. “Technology advancements are great supplements but can’t replace a solid work ethic and dedication to the craft.”

John’s notable work last year included representing Philadelphia District Attorney Larry Krasner in a high-profile litigation over the constitutionality of the unprecedented impeachment efforts by the state General Assembly. He also secured a landmark victory for apartment owners who argued that the use of so-called reverse appeals of commercial tax assessments violated the Uniformity Clause of the Pennsylvania Constitution. An active pro bono practitioner, John co-authored a series of amicus briefs in three ongoing cases focusing on the inadmissibility of evidence obtained through torture.

The winner of the Power Players award will be announced at an awards ceremony on May 15.
