Biography

Ashely Chan is a 1996 graduate of Rutgers School of Law – Camden, where she received Tax Honors with Distinction and the Rutgers Pro Bono Publico Award. Before joining Hangley Aronchick, Ashely practiced in the business and finance section of a major Philadelphia law firm and focused on bankruptcy, corporate restructuring, and corporate finance. Prior to her law firm experience, she was a law clerk for the Honorable Gloria M. Burns of the United States Bankruptcy Court for the District of New Jersey.

Ashely has received numerous recognitions, including being selected as a Leader in Bankruptcy/Restructuring by Chambers USA, a Best Lawyer in America in Bankruptcy and Creditor-Debtor Rights, a Rising Star by Pennsylvania Super Lawyers and New Jersey Super Lawyers magazines, and a Pennsylvania Lawyer on the Fast Track by The Legal Intelligencer and Pennsylvania Law Weekly.

A zealous advocate for her clients, Ashely has a tremendous capacity to recognize the issues involved in a case and formulate immediate steps that need to be taken, always keeping the goals of her client at the forefront of her efforts. As a litigator, she has the ability to see the big picture without losing sight of the details. She also has a deep understanding of bankruptcy law and has represented debtors in reorganization, corporations filing for Chapter 11, and investors during bankruptcy proceedings.

A champion for women, Ashely founded a women’s networking group created to support and mentor young women in the bankruptcy practice area. Her passion for helping others is also evident through her work with the Homeless Advocacy Project, where she runs monthly legal clinics to assist homeless families with their legal needs.
